Description

Hellenistic Bead Necklace. 2nd-1st century B.C. and later. A restrung necklace of fusiform carnelian beads with oblate carnelian beads between and two double-waisted spool-shaped gold beads, the centrepiece a later facetted fusiform carnelian bead; modern clasp. See The British Museum, object number 1917,0601.1974, for Hellenistic gold spool-shaped beads. 47.6 grams, 55 cm (21 3/4 in.) Acquired in the 1990s. With a London gallery. Property of a London collector; from her family's private collection.
