Description
19th Century - 1830 - 'Thomas and Betsy' Marriage Token. Dated 1830 A.D. Formed on a smoothed 1797 cartwheel penny with design pecked out in dots. Obv: man and woman standing facing holding glass between with script 'heres luck / Thomas - Drink / Betsy ' in two lines below. Rev: 'Marras / Smith' at top and 'Age 20' below with floriate border and date below. 23.59 grams. Acquired Canterbury Coin & Stamp Fair. Property of a Kent gentleman. [No Reserve]
Fair but fully legible; pierced for suspension.
