Description
Indian Gilt Calligraphic Talisman. 19th century A.D. A talisman formed as a rectangular plaque with chamfered edges, engraved with a calligraphic inscription in naskh and inlaid with gold: 'Bismillah al-rahmân al-rahîm', or: 'In the name of God the Merciful'. 23.5 grams, 58 mm (2 3/8 in.) Private European collection. Property of a London gallery.
