Edward VII (1901-1910), Matt Proof Gold Five-Pounds, 1902. Coronation year, bare head right, De S. below truncation for engraver George W De Saulles, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, EDWARDVS VII DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID: DEF: IND: IMP:, Rev. St George slaying the dragon with sword, broken lance to lower left, tiny B.P. in exergue for engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, edge milled, 39.89g (WR 404; S 3966; Fr.398a; KM.807). Toned, with the usual striations from the matt surfaces, some reside in hair, otherwise practically as struck. Value $3,000 - UP
Calendar year mintage of 8,066. The Latin legend on the obverse translates as "Edward the Seventh, by the grace of God, King of all the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India."
