Description

UNITED KINGDOM.
Maundy Money has remained largely unchanged since its first official issuance in 1670. Presented by the reigning monarch on Maundy Thursday as part of an almsgiving ceremony, these distinctive silver coins—issued in one, two, three, and four pence denominations—are highly prized for their enduring tradition and historical significance. The ceremonial distribution of Maundy Money continues to this day, making these pieces an important and collectible part of Britain’s numismatic heritage.
