ROMAN REPUBLIC & IMPERATORIAL. C. Calpurnius L. f. Frugi.
Silver Denarius, 67 BC. Rome.
Obv: laureate head of Apollo right; apex behind. Rev: horseman galloping right, holding torch; hook above, C•PISO•L•F•FRVG in exergue.

Good Very Fine; light cabinet tone with a highly attractive portrait of Apollo.

Reference: Crawford-408/1b; Hersh, Piso-421 (O-315/R-2135); RSC Calpurnia-24; Roma XXVIII, lot 507 (same dies).
Rarity: Exceptionally Rare with this control mark; seemingly just the 2nd example to come to auction in at least 20 years.
