ANCIENT GREECE. ATTICA, ATHENS.
Silver Tetradrachm, circa 138-137 BC.
Theodotos, Kleophanes, Dorothe-, magistrates. Obv: head of Athena Parthenos right, wearing necklace, pendant earring, and triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with the protomes of four horses above the visor, a Pegasos in flight rightward above the raised earpiece, and a curvilinear ornament on the bowl. Rev: owl standing right, head facing, on amphora inscribed Δ (month 4); A-ӨE above ӨEO-ΔO-TOΣ KΛE-OΦA-NHΣ ΔΩ-PΩӨ-E (magistrates' names) in six lines across fields, ΣΩ (contractor's initials) below; all within wreath.

Very Fine; a strong example of a New Style tetradrachm, numismatically interesting with these magistrates.

Rarity: Extremely Rare and seemingly unpublished in the standard references.
