Description

Bronze Medal, 1799.
By C. H. Küchler, on the siege and capture of Seringapatam (India).
The siege of Seringapatam (April-May 1799) was the decisive final battle of the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War, where British forces and their allies captured the fortress, resulting in the death of Tipu Sultan and the restoration of the Wodeyar dynasty as British-controlled puppet rulers of Mysore.
Obv.: The British lion defeats the Indian tiger.
Rev.: View of the besieged fortress, bright sun above.
About as struck, hairlines in fields, in original case.
