Description

ANCIENT GREECE. INDO-GREEK KINGDOM. Menander I 'Soter'.
Silver drachm, circa 155-130 BC.
Obv: BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΣΩTHPOΣ MENANΔPOY, diademed and draped bust right, wearing crested helmet adorned with bull's horn and ear. Rev: Athena Alkidemos advancing left, shield decorated with aegis over arm, hurling thunderbolt; monogram in right field, Karosthi script around.
Extremely Fine; a tremendous example of the type.
