MAGNA GRAECIA. SICILY, SYRACUSE. temp. Gelon II.
Silver 8 litrai, circa 218-214 BC.
Obv: diademed head left. Rev: ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΟΙ ΓΕΛΩΝΟΣ, Nike driving slow quadriga right; BA above reins, MI before horses. Extremely Fine; die breaks to rev., vivid iridescent toning on obv.

Reference: SNG ANS-895 (same dies).
Rarity: Extremely Rare with this combination of letters; just the 4th example to come to auction in the past 20 years.
Provenance: from the Euclidean Collection; ex Spink, Auction 9008 (19/3/2009), lot 251.
