Polianthes, magistrate. Obv: KYPANAION, Nike, holding kentron and reins, driving slow quadriga right. Rev: ΠOΛIANΘEYΣ (magistrate's name), Zeus Ammon standing left, holding phiale and lotus-tipped sceptre; thymiaterion to left.

Provenance: Ex Alfred Franklin Collection of Ancient Coins, Baldwin's, Auction 99 (2016), lot 2; Ex Spink, Auction 12009 (2012), lot 145 (hammer: 6,800 GBP). This lot includes a letter written by Barclay Head of the British Museum, to the then owner of the coin in 1894. Additionally, the lot features a handwritten coin description on 'Bielby House, Demesne Road, Alexandra Park, Manchester' letterhead, taken from Head's 'Historia Numorum, A Manual of Greek Numismatics' (1887).
