Description

CHITTAGONG: Selim Shah, governor of Chittagong, after 1599, AR tanka (9.96g), NM, BE963, Mitch-328/331, G-RA3, trilingual, citing the ruler as Salim Shah in Persian, Salim Saha in Bengali and Sawleim Shah in Arakanese, much adhesions or hornsilver around the rims, VF, RRR, ex Eck Prud'homme Collection. Persian text misread by both Goron & Mitchiner, but I cannot offer a reading for the 2nd line. The 3rd line is clearly salim shah sultan as read by both authors.
Estimate: USD 180 - 220
