Description

ILKHAN: Ghazan Mahmud, 1295-1304, AR dirham (2.15g), MM, AH69x, A-2168B, pre-reform, sultan / islam ghazan / mahmud within ornate hexagram // kalima in square, followed by sali Allah 'alayh, unpublished, EF, RRR, ex Christian Rasmussen Collection. The mint is most likely Damghan, by comparison of the style & calligraphy to the Damghan hexagram types of Arghun & Gaykhatu, many of which also have "sali Allah 'alayhi" at the end of the kalima. Bazar Urdu is another possibility.
