BAVANDID OF TABARISTAN: 'Ali b. Shahriyar, 1118-1140, AV dinar (1.22g), Sariya, A-1527, mint name barely visible, but is the only mint known for this type, denomination sometimes called 1/3 dinar, but can vary in weight considerably; with the title malik, AU, RR. Citing the Great Seljuq Sanjar and the Abbasid caliph al-Muqtafi (AH530-555), this coin was thus struck during the last 4 years of his reign.
