Description

ARAB-SASANIAN: 'Abd Allah b. 'Amir, ca. 661-664, AE pashiz (1.60g), KANCA (unlocated), AH44, A-7P, Gyselen-121, standard style, as the drachms of 'Abd Allah b. 'Amir (type A-6), superb strike, EF, RRR. Gyselen knew of only one example, with the mint name unclear, which she very tentatively suggested might possibly be ST for Istakhr, but the mint name is clearly not Istakhr. A much inferior example sold in our Auction 27, Lot 89. This piece appears to be the 3rd known example of this exceedingly rare type.
Estimate: USD 400 - 500
