Description
ILKHAN: Hulagu, 1256-1265, AR dirham (2.73g), Hamah, AH658, A-2124, much porosity, clear mint & date, F-VF. On this remarkable type, Hulagu is described as "the conqueror of the coast (al-basita) by the grace of his brother Möngke, the Great Qa'an." The coast refers to the Mediterranean, which of course he never quite reached!
