Description

GREAT MONGOLS: temp. Chingiz Khan, 1206-1227, AE broad mansuri dirham (6.75g), Samarqand, AH617, A-1968var, mint & date on both sides, apparently unpublished variety, dated within his lifetime, VF-EF, RRR. Samarqand broad dirhams are called "mansuri" for 617, either "burhani" or "'adili" for 618, and "qadiri" for 619 (sometimes misinterpreted as 617), thus continuing the tradition of Khwarizmshahi broad dirhams of Samarqand under 'Ala al-Din Muhammad dated AH607-616.
