BRITISH INDIA:LOT of 103 various pieces: Bengal Presidency: Benares copper coins (21 pieces, average F-VF); later copper (1825+, 6 pcs, average F-VF, including 1831 pie VF-EF and ½ pie ND (1831) in VF); and Pulta copper (7 pcs, average VF, nice group); Bombay Presidency: Silver coins (4 pcs, including 1/4 rupee of Surat & 1/5 rupee of Bombay); hand-struck copper coins (11 pcs, including 1804 2 pie Fine); Soho mint copper 1791-1794 (8 pcs, including two nice VF, the rest low grade); and later copper (1804-1834, 12 pieces, average Fine, couple better); Madras Presidency: 6 copper and 6 silver coins, average quality, also a contemporary gold-plated counterfeit of the star pagoda (VF); and British India: silver coins (5 pcs, 2 annas 1841 (EF-AU); ¼ rupee 1840 (2 pcs, one AU, the other VF), and rupee 1840 (EF) and 1862 (VF), also common later base-metal coins (6 Republic and 10 Pakistan, little value); retail value $1200, lot of 103 pieces, Dr. Axel Wahlstedt Collection.
