INDIA: painted wooden writing board (922g), ca. late 19th to early 20th century, 24 x 54cm, also known as takhti, one side in black with several lines of Nagari text, decorated with Ganesha and mouse above, the other side in red and left blank, with female figure mounted on large bird above, likely from the Gujarat region in western India and used by children to practice writing, a well-preserved example with full details and lovely colors, XF, ex William F. Spengler Collection.
