BANU IFRAN: 'Abd al-Kamil Tamim, 1015-1054, AR dirham (1.36g), NM, ND, A-457R, Sunni kalima in two lines, with the name Tamîm below // al-imam 'abd Allah / amir al-mu'minin, two stars below; VF, RRR. This is the second known example of 'Abd al-Kamil Tamim (the first is a very different type, A-457Q, sold in our Auction 49, lot 235), with a reference to the theoretical imam 'Abd Allah created by some of the Taifa dynasties in Spain after the end of the Umayyads of Spain in AH422 (1031 AD). Formally offered as Lot 228 in our Auction 48, listed as Almoravid, but now corrected, thanks to subsequent research by the consignor.
