UMAYYAD: Yusuf b. 'Umar, governor or Iraq about 738/744, AE fals (4.39g), Zaranj, ND, A-A204, mint name below the kalima on the obverse, governor's name in the reverse margin, with the mythical bird known as the senmurg in the center of the reverse, and likely the 2nd known example (the previous one appeared in our Auction 33, Lot 276), VG-F, RRR. Yusuf b. 'Umar was never recorded as governor of Sijistan, but since he controlled both Kufa and Basra, he was likely also recognized as chief governor over Sijistan.
