Description

SELJUQ OF SYRIA: Sultan Shah, 1114-1117, BI dirham (1.48g), NM, ND, A-778, al-malik in center, kalima around // sultan shah in center with symbol above, unknown legend around (nearly all off flan); about 15% flat strike, Fine, RRR. Only 1 example filed on CoinArchives, different style, with somewhat related ornament in the center on both sides; although the symbol on this piece resembles the head of the Texas longhorn cattle, it must mean something very different.
