CHINA: QING: Guang Xu, 1875-1908, AE charm (4.82g), CCH-210, fu shou ("happiness and longevity") in seal script, light stain, likely made in Sichuan, VF, ex K.K. Lee Collection, in old American Missionary Church Tithe & Offering Envelope dated 13 March 1932. Empress Dowager Cixi is said to have had these palace charms made to give out on special occasions and important birthdays. She became the regent through a palace coup in 1861 and was the de-facto ruler of China until her death in 1908.
