GREAT BRITAIN: AE medal (15.42g), 1742, MI-571/206, Wurzbach-7180, Schmidt-480, 36mm bronze medal for archaeologist, numismatist, and Freemason Martin Folkes, from Hamerani, struck in Rome, bust right with MARTINVS - FOLKES around // Sphinx before the pyramid of Caius Cestius in Rome with radiant sun above and SVA SIDERA NORVNT around and "ROMAE A L / S742" in exergue, appears to be a copy with thinner rims than the original, plain edge, Choice AU. Folkes was Deputy Grand Master (1724-5) of the Freemasons in England.
