According to the contract between the Buenos Aires Mint (Casa de Moneda de la República Argentina) and a representative of Paraguay, a whole series of coins had to be minted in silver: 5, 10, 20, 50 centavos and 1 peso. But actually, only the 1 peso was minted in 1889. Other coins are known only as pattern strikes.
