BURJI MAMLUK: Shaykh, 1412-1421, AV dinar (21.82g), al-Qahira, AH818, A-987, ruler cited as al-malik al-mu'ayyid sayf al-dunya wa'l-din abu'l-nasr shaykh sultan al-islam wa'l-muslimin, full mint & date; slightly bent, but overall a fabulous example without any weakness! lovely VF to EF, RR. A somewhat inferior example weighing 21.85g was sold in the Gorny & Mosch Auction 139, lot 3076, back in 2005 (same dies). The weight of both examples is slightly heavier than five mithqals of the time, but that is likely just coincidental.
