MEXICO: Republic, AE 2 centavos, Campeche State, 1890, KM-NC12, contemporary private pattern, a wonderful red lustrous example! NGC graded MS64 RD. In 1890, the German firm of L. Chr. Lauer of Nuremberg issued a series of patterns for Mexico in copper and copper-nickel. Twenty-one designs were struck, all with a common obverse with different reverses for the various states and one commemorating the 80th anniversary of Mexican independence.
