Description

PARAMARAS OF VIDARBHA: Jaita Varma, fl. ca 1142-1144, BI drachm (4.09g), Mitch-—, Pieper—, Indo-Sasanian style bust right, under canopy // ruler's name in Nagari script, EF, RRR. According to the consignor, the attribution of this unpublished coin is tentative. The style is early 12th century, but no king named Jaita Varma is known from inscriptions or historical sources. This extremely rare coin is the only evidence of his rule.
