Description

TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th-18th century, large tin coin, cast (41.07g), Robinson-70 (Plate 12.3), 67mm, the tò (mythical antelope) facing right, with feathery legs, holding a branch in its mouth // 8-spoke wheel in the center, Buddhist legend around in Burmese letters ("city of great happiness"), three natural casting flaws in the margin, bold EF, RR. Slightly different text on the reverse, as on the example sold in our Auction 35, Lot 1890 (same casting molds).
