BORNEO: MALUKA: AE duit (1.90g), 1813/AH1228, KM-6, duwit mathrif (market doit) in Jawi script within shield // date 1813 above Hijri date 1228 in hexagon shield, countermarked the wheel of law on the obverse, on type KM-5, Fine to VF, RR, ex Wolfgang Schuster Collection. Maluka is a private estate in southern Borneo founded by the Englishman Alexander Hare in 1812, acquired through a grant from the local Sultan. The state existed from 1812 to 1818. The coins were made at a mint in the state in 1812 and 1813. The state ceased to exist when the area was repossessed by the Dutch in 1818.
