Description

SIKH EMPIRE: AR nanakshahi rupee (11.01g), Amritsar, VS1902, KM-22.8, VS1885 series, pataka composed of two flags below chhatra on obverse, 1 testmark, VF, RR.

According to the consignor, this rupee was issued after the First Anglo Sikh war. The top flag was the symbol of victory against the British, the second flag is the Nishan Sahib, symbol of the Khalsa. Only a handful are known.
