Description

CHINA:LOT of 5 tokens inscribed CH'IEN LUNG T'UNG PAO (Qian Long Tong Bao) // Imperial dragon chasing flaming pearl, with triangular central hole, much nicer than average quality examples, most with original luster and nearly mint state, retail value $150, lot of 5 tokens. This inscription is copied from cash coins of Emperor Qian Long (1736-1795), but this triangular hole type was actually made in the 20th century using modern machinery. This type is believed to be a souvenir from one of the World's Fairs in the United States or from a Chinatown in the United States. Some believe it is from the St. Louis World's Fair (Louisiana Purchase Exposition) of 1904; others think it is from the Panama-Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco, California in 1915. The pieces are rare in the Far East as they are normally only found in the United States.
Estimate: USD 75 - 100
