Description

ARTUQIDS OF MARDIN: al-Mansur Ahmad, 1364-1368, AE fals (1.66g), NM, ND, A-1842F, Zeno-234339 (this piece), the full obverse legend is fi dawlat al-sultan / al-malik al-mansur / khalad Allah mulkahu, reverse flower with 8 anthers, all with octagram, Fine to VF, RRR. This is the first reported example of a copper coin of al-Mansur. The first words on the obverse, "fi dawlat", do not occur on the silver coins of the late Artuqids, but are on at least some of the copper coins of the previous ruler, al-Salih Salih.
