The year 882 is much rarer than 883 - there are about 8 times as many dated 883 as 882 on CoinArchives. This is the first Islamic coin to bear the phrase "darib al-nadr wa sahib al-'izz al-nasr fi'l-birr wa'l-bahr", "the striker of precious metal, and master of glory, the victorious on land and sea", reference to the Ottoman expansion on both the European and Asian sides of the Bosporus.
