GREAT BRITAIN. Toulon Brass Medal, 1743-4. George II. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield.
Eimer-582; MI-I-584. Obverse: Figure hanging from gallows at sea, fleet of ships behind; Reverse: Fortified port with British soldiers and fleet behind, British lion mauling French rooster on port. The hanging figure is believed to represent bickering Admirals Lestock or Mathews, accused of incompetence or cowardice. A finely detailed and dark brassy toned token with its fair share of dark propaganda.
