BELGIUM. Peter d'Or, (1355-83). Louvain Mint. Jeanne & Wenceslas. NGC MS-61.
Fr-11, Del-45. A superb Gold Peter d'Or. Graded mint state with every detail on both obverse and reverse sharply defined. Jeanne and Wenceslas ruled the province of Brabant where this coin was minted. The area is part of modern day Belgium. St. Peter is seated on the obverse with his traditional key in one hand and a book in the other. Below his portrait are found the quartered arms of Limburg, Brabant, and Luxembourg. Reverse displays a floriated cross with a rosette in the center. This is a spectacular example of late medieval gold coinage.
