KM-1; Antunez-1.1.2. Thick planchet/medal alignment. The smaller of the two denominations issued in 1840, this type is always difficult to encounter, especially in such an alluring state of preservation as the present specimen. Featuring warm brown surfaces with a solid strike, this example is surpassed in the PCGS census by just one finer--an AU-58 which we recently sold in our October Collectors Choice Online auction (lot 72860) for $4,320.
