26.20 gms. Struck to commemorate the exposition prize awarded to Henri de Rudder for his historical paintings. Obverse: Laureate head of Louis Philippe facing left; Reverse: Six line inscription, legend around. A well struck and nicely detailed bust of the king in high relief in stark contrast to the reflective fields. The surfaces exhibit signs of handling consistent for the grade with light patination in the peripherals and amongst the devices. An attractive piece awarded to a prolific painter and lithographer of the 19th Century sure to add depth to any collection of historical medals.
