1877 Anti-George B. McClellan New Jersey Gubernatorial Campaign Medal. DeWitt-Uncataloged. Brass. Mint State.
31 mm. Obv: Civil bust 3/4 right, legend GENERAL G(UN) B(OAT) McCLELLAN / CANDIED-DATE / FOR "ANYTHING" SWEET. Rev: Satirical remarks, YOUR "ORPHEUS C. KERR" / I / COULDN'T / BE PRESIDENT / IN 1865 / BUT I'LL BE / "BIG INJUN" / IN 1877 / I'LL BE / GOVERNOR / OF NEW JERSEY!! H OORAY!!! / VERY "LITTLE MAC." Unsigned, but in the style of George Hampden Lovett, and very similar to Lovett's signed 1876 Samuel Tilden satirical medals he produced for Isaac Wood.
