At top right is the artist's signature .FRASER./ 19©20. Back bears two rugged integral hangers, well preserved paper label announcing THE ROOSEVELT BAS RELIEF/ BY JAMES EARLE FRASER / COPYRIGHTED. PATENT APPLIED FOR / ALL RIGHTS RESERVED BY / DECORATIVE ARTS LEAGUE/ 175 FIFTH AVENUE, NEW YORK, N.Y. / TRADE - DEC ARTS - MARK. This plaque is seen with a variety of patinas, depending on the care they received over the decades. This example is fully bronzed and is measurably finer than most examples encountered today. Likely the original copper, heavy gauge suspension wire. Chips and minor discoloration along the upper left edge on front, tiny spot in upper right field before Roosevelt's head. A handsome display piece honoring one of America's beloved presidents.
