Description

1879-CC Morgan Silver Dollar. Clear CC. MS-63 PL (PCGS). CMQ.
Fully prooflike in finish with bold cameo-like contrast between frosty devices and mirrored fields. Sharp striking detail and an untoned silver white appearance further enhance already strong eye appeal. Collectors of Prooflike Morgans will find the 1879-CC to pose quite a challenge. This semi-key date issue is scarce in an absolute sense by Carson City Mint Morgan dollar standards, so PL examples are even more so. Furthermore, and as Wayne Miller so aptly put it in his Morgan & Peace Dollar Textbook, "Most [PL] specimens are heavily bagmarked." This Choice example is smoother than typically seen, both for the issue and the assigned grade, and it is sure to catch the eye of astute numismatists.
PCGS# 7087. NGC ID: 253T.

Estimate: $9000
