Description

1970 United States Assay Commission Medal. JK AC-114. Rarity-7. Bronze. Mint State.
57 mm. The standard Mint tan-gold patina is nicely preserved with only a few subtle variations in the color at lower obverse. This is one of the most elusive entries in the later Assay Commission medal series. A forward-facing portrait of Treasury Secretary David M. Kennedy is shown on the obverse, while the reverse features the Treasury seal. Members of the 1970 Assay Commission included gold connoisseur Harry W. Bass and numismatic columnist Leon Lindheim.

Estimate: $1000
