Description

Undated (ca. 1793) Washington Success Medal. Large Size. Musante GW-41, Baker-265A, DeWitt-GW 1792-1a, W-10905. First Die. Brass. Plain Edge. EF-40 (PCGS).
25.9 mm. 81.6 grains. Fairly even brown surfaces are slightly granular up close and retain a bit of natural debris in the obverse recesses. Reasonably well struck with good obverse detail and the usual softness at the reverse center. A late die state example with a prominent obverse crack crossing Washington's nose, extending from the rim over the G of WASHINGTON to the rim over his head, at 11 o'clock.
From the Richard August Collection.

Estimate: $500
