Description

1791 Washington Small Eagle Cent. Musante GW-17, Baker-16, W-10630. Copper. UNITED STATES Edge. MS-65 BN (PCGS).
30.0 mm. 190.0 grains. Beautiful chocolate brown surfaces are invitingly prooflike throughout the fields on both sides and accented by thin outlines of rich copper red around the motifs and letters. Essentially free of noteworthy handling marks, but a tiny as made lintmark off the forehead is mentioned for identification. Nicely struck and about as aesthetically pleasing as they come.
From the Richard August Collection. Earlier ex Jim Skalbe.

Estimate: $3000
