Description

DENMARK. Speciedaler / 3 Mark, 1563. Copenhagen Mint. Frederik II. NGC EF Details--Reverse Graffiti.
Dav-8228; Hede-8B; Sieg-21; Schou-5; Bruun-4422. Weight: 28.76 gms. Mintmaster: Poul Fechtel. A contemporary owner's mark in the lower reverse field doesn't detract from the present example being an exceptionally handsome piece. This one-year type that quite unusually bears the date in Roman numerals (LXIII) has one of the highest silver fineness (0.937) of all Danish coins minted since the early medieval period.
From the L. E. Bruun Collection.

Estimate: €1200.00 - €1500.00
