Description

DENMARK. Penny, ND (1086-1095). Lund Mint. Oluf Hunger. NGC Unc Details--Peck Marked.
Hauberg-4; Hauberg Auction-; Poulsen-SK6.1; Bruun-2047 (illustrated on Plate 9); Weight: 0.89 gms. Moneyer: Biorn. Apart from a hairline split in the center of the flan, a miraculous survivor from one of the most elusive kings in the history of Danish numismatics. Fully legible legends, incredibly sharp details and a lovely toning with strong blue and purple hues. Although the crown worn by the king is Byzantine, the overall design is clearly inspired by contemporary German issues.
From the L. E. Bruun Collection.

Estimate: €8000.00 - €12000.00
