Description

DENMARK. Penny, ND (1035-1042). Lund Mint. Harthacnut (Hardeknud). NGC Unc Details--Peck Marked.
Hauberg-20; Hauberg Collection-; C. J. Becker-H 46/174; Hildebrand-139 (Type B.a.); Bruun-1407; Weight: 1.38 gms. Moneyer: Outhencarl. A breathtaking example with magnificent luster and a delightful toning. This exceedingly rare type was struck in imitation of Harold I's only slightly earlier Arm-and-Sceptre type. Becker has only registered three examples: the present, one in the National Museum in Copenhagen (illustrated in S. Bergsøe, 1882) and one in Stockholm (illustrated on Tab. 10 in Hildebrand).
From the L. E. Bruun Collection.

Estimate: €3000.00 - €4000.00
