The city of Roskilde in the center of Zealand was the main city in the island until it was overtaken by Copenhagen, probably in the 1440's. A city with a long minting tradition going back to at least Cnut the Great in the early 11th century, the few coins struck in Roskilde by Christian III were the last to be struck there (for now).
