Fr. 1921-C*. 1995 $1 Federal Reserve Star Note. Philadelphia. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ. Defacing Roller Imprint.
A very rare example of a very rare error type. First described by the likes of Arthur Friedberg in a February 2020 article of Coin World, this error occurred at the hands of press operator who applied the almost serpentine red imprint that runs from top to bottom and can be viewed even on the back. One of five examples of this error to be recorded and one of two to be assigned a grade of Choice Uncirculated 63 EPQ by PMG; this is only the second time that an example of this error has been offered publicly after another example realized a total of $6,600 at auction earlier this year. A real treat for the discerning error collector looking to distinguish their holdings.
