Description

(t) CHINA--PROVINCIAL BANKS. Pei Yang Kin Fu Bank. 3 Taels, 1906. P-S2505 for type. Front and Back Archival Photographs. PMG Encapsulated.
A superb offering of a pair of uniface archival photographs for the 3 Taels bearing the name of Pei Yang Kin Fu Bank. The photos have been mounted on card with the date '14.5.06' written in pen and also annotations depicting the colour of the note which are similar to the final issued notes under Pei Yang Tientsin Bank The Bank was founded in 1906 by Yuan Shih Kai as the Pei Yan Kin Fu Bank and a few fully printed notes that came out of the Bradbury archives are bearing this name are known. Prices fetched for those notes were staggering high and the cataloguer was fortunate to witness their sale first hand! For reasons unknown the Bank was renamed the Pei Yang Tientsin Bank, and these are the notes that are usually encountered on the market. This pair of unique archival photographs is possibly the only relatively inexpensive way of owning a Kin Fu Bank related material and we are confident that an astute and discerning collector will appreciate the them.

(t) On September 1, 2019, the United States enacted new tariffs on collector's items of Chinese origin, including bullion and numismatic coins and banknotes.
